Latest news CSC's pharmacy system is helping the trust reduce dispensing errors at the Macclesfield District Hospital, while also increasing efficiency so the 60 pharmacy staff have more time for direct patient care.
The solution features a bi-directional interface to the hospital's robotic dispensing system, so CSC's solution is updated automatically on new deliveries and as medicines are dispensed. This has improved stock control and reduced stock discrepancies.
It has also cut the time to check-in new deliveries, which again gives staff more time for patients. This was an entirely manual process with all drug packs checked individually. Now packs are loaded on to the robot's conveyor and scanned, sorted and stored automatically. The robot updates the pharmacy solution accordingly so deliveries are reconciled against purchase orders automatically.
