Background

The trust is one of the so-called iSOFT 7, a group that agreed contracts directly with iSOFT and CSC in 2006 to continue using iSOFT solutions instead of those being offered under the National Programme for IT in London and the south of England. The seven maintained that the clinical functionality being offered under the programme did not match existing iSOFT functionality.

In February 2011, the five NHS trusts in London and two in the south agreed to extend the contracts to 2016.

Recognised as some of the UK's most prestigious and innovative trusts, the seven are: Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust; King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust; Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust; Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust; Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust; and Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust. These have used iSOFT's solutions for over ten years.
