The original CLINiCOM/PatientCentre data transaction message sets were developed prior to the existence of the HL7 industry messaging standards and therefore not all HL7 compliant.
OPENLink Plus provides additional data items for your core CLINiCOM/PatientCentre transactions for direct translation/mapping to HL7 data structures, enabling swift and easy data translation to HL7 industry standard messaging requirements.
The ability to translate PatientCentre/CLINiCOM fixed-length data formats to the HL7 data message structures required by departmental applications results in real-time, seamless data integration.
Additional data items
OPENLink Plus makes available additional data items that can be directly mapped and translated to integrated applications via the enhanced transaction sets, reducing the need for further integration engine processing. These items include:
- patient demographic lookup: ensures consistency of patient demographic information within the HL7 message structures
- patient episode lookup: for consistency of patient visit information within HL7 messages
- Consultant lookup: The consultant lookup is used to obtain additional data items regarding consultants
- clinic code lookup: for obtaining additional data items regarding clinics.
Write back ability
With OPENLink Plus, information can be written directly to the PAS from other systems, saving time and ensuring information is always accurate and up to date across systems.
Enhanced transaction sets
These are supplied as a separate message version, allowing operational interfaces using earlier transaction versions to continue processing, with no need for a complete interface rewrite.
Greater availability and accuracy of data
Full and consistent patient demographic data may be populated within HL7 message structures, making available national code values for GP and consultants. This removes the need for data translation tables between local and equivalent national code values during message processing.
National coding
National coding ensures consistency across all systems for indentifying data such as religion and marital status codes, while national GP and consultant codes can be made available within the message data sets to ensure consistency of episodic processing.
Enhanced inbound patient demographic update processing
OPENLink Plus enhancements to patient demographic information include:
- NHS number status
- work telephone numbers
- patient change of address validation: users can utilise address and GP history combined with other checks to determine whether a patient update relates to a change of address – once confirmed, this information can be transferred to the PAS.
